Craig Phillips

b. November 3, 1939

Jay, Oklahoma

Craig R. Phillips passed from this life December 6, 2021 at the age of 82. He was born on November 3, 1939, in Vinita, Oklahoma to Mont R. and Ruth E. Phillips

Craig loved life and he loved people. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand, a listening ear, or anything he could do to love and support those around him. Most important to him was his children. Craig was an amazing father and was thought of as the dad who could fix anything. He could take any situation and find a solution or make it better, by advice, experience, or just a listening ear. The love and support that he offered to his family and loved ones was unmatched. He believed in our Lord and Savior and was a member of the Baptist church since 1956. Craig attended and graduated school in Vinita, and later attended OSU. He joined the United States Army in 1965 where he served during the Vietnam War. During this time, he received two Purple Hearts for his brave service to our country.  He spent some time on the rodeo circuit when he was younger, and many years as a ranch owner and manager, Real Estate Agent, businessman, mentor, father, and friend. He enjoyed hobbies such as fishing and shooting and was an excellent marksman. He supported numerous charities and events and was an outstanding member of the community. He touched the hearts and lives of many people and those memories will be remembered, as he will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents Mont R. and Ruth E. Phillips, and his brother Robert Phillips. He is survived by his daughters Christina Phillips of Jay, Leisa Cowart and husband Bud of Jay, Mary Newman and husband Wayne, Branden Gamble, and Jake Glass, who was like a son to him, and several grand and great grandchildren.
