Claude Tinsley

Claude "Leon" Tinsley, 85, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at his home in Ochelata, Oklahoma. Leon was born September 25, 1927 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Claude Hogan and Anna Jane (Aduddell) Tinsley. In 1935, the Tinsley family moved to Hominy, Oklahoma where they remained for many years. On February 25, 1945, Leon married the love of his life, Patricia Jean Pierce. Leon and Patricia raised their three boys in Hominy. Leon worked as an oil field worker until he started working for the city of Hominy where his uncle taught him how to be a lineman. In 1963, Leon relocated his family to Pryor, Oklahoma where he was employed by the city as a lineman. In 1966, Leon started working for PSO in Tulsa as a lineman and was promoted to foreman several years before his retirement in 1989. In 1983, the family moved to Ochelata where they still reside today. Leon was known for his outgoing personality and had a knack for providing catchy phrases for his family to remember. He brought so much joy and laughter to his family and will be dearly and truly missed. Leon leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his beloved wife of 68 years, Patricia Tinsley; three sons, Claude Tinsley and his wife, Vickie, of Ochelata, Ronald Tinsley and his wife, Becky, of Wheatland, Missouri, and Dennis Tinsley of Independence, Missouri. He also leaves behind one sister, Edra Belle Balentine and her husband, T.J. Balentine, of Copan, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Scott Tinsley and his wife, Alicia, of Ochelata, Tammy Reed and hr husband, Monte, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Jason Tinsley and his wife, Amber, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, David Tinsley and family of California, Dayna Giambastiani and her husband, Mark, of Reno, Nevada, and Jessie Tinsley of Pennsylvania; and 14 great-grandchildren. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Hogan and Anna Jane Tinsley; and one grandson, Mickey Tinsley. Services will be held Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Happy Hill Church in Ramona, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy.
