Charles Threlkeld

Charles Robert "Charlie" Threlkeld, 77, of Jay, Oklahoma died at 8:15 a.m., Monday, May 25, 2009 at his home. Charlie was born October 10, 1931 in Lindsey, Oklahoma to Ivan and Hallie (Banks) Threlkeld. He moved to California with his family during the 1940's and began working at a cotton gin plant. He moved up the ranks and retired as Plant Superintendent of Operations. Charlie left California in February of 2001 to make his home in Jay. He was a member of the Community Chapel in Jay and had attended faithfully while his health allowed. Charlie loved playing his guitar, building things from wood and working in his garden. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hallie Threlkeld on March 4, 1938, his father, Ivan Threlkeld on December 23, 1955, and his beloved step-mother, Bertha Threlkeld on April 26, 2002. Survivors include his five children; Tommy Threlkeld of Parlier, CA, Joy Kelley and husband Don of Jay, Buddy Threlkeld and wife Cyndi of Grove, Gloria Brand and husband Andy of Fresno, CA, Ricky Threlkeld and wife Donna of Selma, CA; two step-children, Brenda Vance and husband Terry of Fresno, CA, and Keith Jordan of Tulare, CA; two sisters, Charlene Welch and husband Thomas of Gentry, AR, Lillie Threlkeld of Denison, TX; one brother, Henry Threlkeld and wife Susan of Denison, TX; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two nieces, Betty Bishop of Gentry, AR, and Mary Cochran and husband Randy of Colcord; and his special caregiver, Pauline Brown of Jay, who took care of him from 2001 and his last minute on earth when he left us and went to his new home in heaven. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Community Chapel, 327 7th Street, Jay, Oklahoma with Pastor Johnnie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Duffield Cemetery in Jay. Pallbearers will be Dusty Threlkeld, Joshua Threlkeld, Buddy Threlkeld, Ricky Threlkeld, Keith Jordan, and Bud Heard. Terry Goins and Thomas Welch will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
