Charles Shields

Charles Edgar Shields, age 92, died January 16, 2009. He was born in Celeste, Texas on March 29, 1916. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lowe Shields, of 40 years, three Children: Janet Shields Smith, Royce White and Thomas White, Twelve grandchildren, Amber Smith Massey, Travis Smith, Patrick Smith, Jennifer Richardson, Gentry White, Austin White, Dorothy White Colaw, Daniel White, Chris Shields, Cynthia Shields, Courtney Shields, Chase Shields and nine great grandchildren, Charles, Regan and Julia Colaw, Grace and Fiona Massey, Shawn and Charley White and Brina and Charlie Richardson, one sister Peggy Eley and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, James White and Michael Roy Shields, his parents Charles E. Shields and Eula Tompkins Shields, and four brothers, Kenneth, Robert, James and Glenn Shields. Charles served in the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 18. 1942 to Nov. 22, 1945. Then he worked for the U.S. postal system for 26 years. After retiring, he worked for the Republic Bank of Oak Cliff for five years. He was a dedicated Christian, a loving husband, father and great grandfather. Funeral services for Mr. Shields will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2009 at the First Wesleyan Church of Bartlesville. Pastor Joe W. Colaw of the First Wesleyan Church of Bartlesville will preside over the services, with interment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
