Charles Carlson

Charles Ward Carlson, age 92, a resident of Bartlesville went to be with his Lord Sunday March 11, 2007 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. Charles was born July 25, 1914 the son of O.G. Carlson and Mary Schreak Carlson at Garrison, Kansas. He graduated from Cleborn, Kansas High School in 1931. Charles farmed in the Garrison Kansas area until 1960, when the Tuttle Creek Dam took the farm. He moved to Bartlesville and married Francis E. Varvel on January 23, 1960. He worked for Johns True Value Hardware store until he retired. Charles Ward Carlson is survived by eight nephews; Tim Varvel of Philomath, Oregon, Roger Varvel of Lebanon, Missouri, Don Varvel of Corpus Christi, Texas, Walter Varvel of Richmond, Virginia, Richard Weik of Wichita, Kansas, Charles Weik of Topeka, Kansas, Larry Wilkins of Gardner, Kansas and James Wilkins of Manhattan, Kansas, two nieces Mary Townsend of Houston, Texas and Patsy Varvel of Katy, Texas. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and his wife Francis. He will be missed by his relatives and countless friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the First Christian Church of Bartlesville, with Rev. Gary L. Hagan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church and those who wish to contribute may do so in lieu of flowers to the First Christian Church, 520 SE Osage, Bartlesville, Ok 74003. Services are under the direction of the Neekamp -Luginbuel Funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
