Carles "Dick" Sturges

Carles “Dick” Wayne Sturges, 80 years old, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021.  Dick was born on February 5, 1940 in Pryor, OK to Julian “Juke” Sturges and Rosezetta “Zettie” (Robertson) Sturges.  He served two separate terms in the United States Navy, one term being during the Vietnam War.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Lou (Fields) Reid, on May 24, 1968 in Jay, OK.  Dick’s greatest life passions was his love for the Lord and for his family.  He stayed active in the First Assembly of God Church in Miami serving as a door greeter, security, helping with fundraisers, especially the Peanut Brittle Drive.  He also loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as watching sports, especially OU and the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors include his children: Russell Sturges and wife Dorrie of Florida, Brent Sturges and wife Windie of Miami, OK, Debbie Overacre and husband Lelen of Fairland, and Robin Weimer and husband Brett of Springfield, MO, 11 grandchildren: Melissa Spencer, Toby Sturges, Shawn Sturges, Teia Williams, Wesley Weimer, Jeremy Weimer, Corey Weimer, Hunter Sturges, River Sturges, Brooklyn Sturges, and Lake Sturges, 7 great grandchildren, two sisters: Laura Mae Marrow and Velta Be Carr, as well as numerous extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou, and siblings: Raymond Sturges, Vi Hall, and Sue Nell Shuck.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. Services will be live stream on the Worley Luginbuel Facebook Page.  Interment will follow at Mose Ridge Cemetery in Topsy, OK.  Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com or on the Worley Luginbuel Facebook Page.
