Bion Lee Hunt, of Vinita, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006 at his home. He was 99 years, 7 months and 24 days old. Born on October 17, 1906 in Swan, Iowa to Chester E. and Nancy (Brewer) Hunt. He lived in the Swan area until 1952 when he moved southeast of Vinita to the Carselowey Community where he lived for the last 54 years. On Dec. 24, 1931, he was united in marriage to Corinne Willis. From this union there were 9 children born. He is survived by his children; Lawrence Lee and Ann Hunt of Kihei, Hawaii, Elsie Corinne Cole of Vinita, Josephine Louise and Billy Jones of Gordon, TX, Carolyn Jeanette and Archie Miller of Gordon, TX, David Robert and Myra Hunt of Galena, KS, Dorothy May Daniels of Big Cabin, OK, Judy Sarah and David Wellborn of McKinney, TX, Priscilla Jane and Ronnie Hopkins of Vinita. 23 Grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by his wife of 4 years, Marie Hunt, 1 Sister-Gladys VanderPloeg of Des Moines, Iowa, 1 Brother- Robert F. Hunt of Pryor, OK., 2 sisters-in-law; Ruth Hunt of Pleasantville, Iowa and Martha Tennant of Monroe, Iowa. Also many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 56 years-Corinne in 1988, and infant daughter-Tommy Michaeal, and infant great-granddaughter Keturah Daniels, a second wife of 10 years Ruth Hunt. Sisters; Mary Jolly and Helen Rozenburg, brothers; Lawrence and Russell Hunt and 3 sons-in-law; Alvin E. Brown, James Frost and Ron Daniels. Bion was a member of the Vinita Church of Christ, a farmer, a long haul truck driver a carpenter, a custom harvester and he enjoyed making furniture and pleasing everyone with his woodworking skills. He learned at an early age the value of hard work and determination. He always looked forward to the Hunt Reunions in Iowa and going to Texas for the yearly family Thanksgiving gatherings. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Vinita Church of Christ with Mr. Justin Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the Carselowey Cemetery.
