Billy Dean "Bill" Mount 81 year old well-known Welch resident, died late Monday evening, June 28, 2010 at the Claremore Veterans Center. He was born November 27, 1928 near Hollow, Oklahoma (west of Welch) to Obed Ross "Mutt" and Thelma W. (Triece) Mount. Bill was a graduate of Welch High School and attended NEO A&M College in Miami for two years. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country from January 1, 1952 to January 1, 1954 during the Korean War; he also was a reservist for eight years, ending his service in 1962. Bill married Helen L. Barger on October 2, 1954 in Miami at the First Baptist Church; they lived in Miami for about five years then moved to Welch. He retired from the B. F. Goodrich Company in Miami after 32 years, and also had a farming and ranching operation for over 50 years until his health forced his retirement. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Welch V. F. W. Fansler-Rogers Post. Bill really enjoyed going quail hunting with his good friend Shifty Hilton, they also hunted pheasant for over forty years together in South Dakota. The family includes: his wife, Helen L. Mount of the home, a son Brad Mount of Welch, two grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Mount of Welch, two aunts, Edna Mount of Welch and Melva Mount of Tulsa and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncles Norman, Johnny and Jeff Mount. Casket bearers will be: Jacob Mount, Wade Sherrick, Greg, Grant, Chris and Kyle Highsmith. Honorary bearers will be: Ron Panter, Bill Polson, Bruce Vazquez, Stan Dewall, Bill Cass, Joe Pierce, Bill Harper, Benny Swango and Frank Albertini. The funeral service will be held, Friday, July 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Welch Christian Church, with Pastor Brad Canham officiating. Interment will follow at the Welch Cemetery.
