Betty Wobker

December 13, 1918 — March 20, 2007

Mrs. Betty (Ensch) Wobker, daughter of an early Bartlesville family, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Redmond, Washington. She was 88. Betty was born in Bartlesville on Friday, December 13, 1918, and often joked that Friday the 13th was actually quite a lucky day. The fourth of five children of Thomas and Nell Ensch, her father owned Ensch Plumbing. Betty attended St. John's Catholic School, Bartlesville High School, Bartlesville Community College, and the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She then worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, where she met and married Burle F. Wobker, her husband for 50 years. During their working years, Betty and Burle lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania and Nebraska. In 1980, they returned to Bartlesville to retire. Burle preceded her in death in 1992 and their daughter Mary Jo Wobker also died that year. Betty then moved to Redmond, Washington, to live near her son David and his family for over a decade. Betty enjoyed bridge, travel, knitting, gardening, ceramics, and crossword puzzles. She was noted for a lively wit. Betty is survived by sister Bobbie Ferro of Providence, Rhode Island; sister-in law Pat Ensch of Bartlesville; sons Tom Wobker of Post Falls, Idaho and David Wobker of Redmond, Washington; daughters-in-law Sharon and Heidi and five grand children, Scott, Ben, Josh, Kristin and Jill. A Mass of the resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Monday in the sanctuary of St. Johns Catholic Church with The Reverend Festus Maliwa officiating. Final committal rites will be accorded Mrs. Wobker on the family plot of the Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
