Bessie Davis of Jay, Ok. died Wednesday August 16, 2006 at her home in Jay. She was 80. Bessie was born September 11, 1925 to Elias (Jim) and Nancy (Belt) Bluebird at Rocky Ford, Ok. She married Quinton Davis July 16, 1942 at Rocky Ford. She worked as a homemaker and housewife. She was a member of the Piney Baptist Church in Jay. Bessie enjoyed making quilts and sold several of her quilts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Davis, May 13, 2006. Survivors include nine children: Johnny Davis of Lawrence, Ks., Junior Davis, Nancy Davis, Ruth Crow, Jerry Davis, Jimmy Davis, Anita Jones, Sammy Davis, all of Jay, and James Davis of Wyandotte, Ok. One sister: Rhonda Davis of Oaks, OK, and three brothers; Floyd Bluebird of Wellington, OK; Jackie Bluebird of Oaks, OK and Phillip Bluebird of Peggs, OK. 37 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. Bessie and her husband Quinton helped raise 4 grandchildren: Becky Davis, Judy Grass, Jonni Tacker, and Kenny Jones. Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Piney Baptist Church in Jay with Reverend Stanley Grass officiating. Junior Jones will assist Reverend Grass. The family will receive guests at their home on Thursday evening between 6pm and 8pm. Interment will follow at the O'Field Cemetery in Jay.
