Basil Dennis Jr.

Basil Dennis Jr., age 84 of Grove died Thursday, April 7, 2011. Basil was born in Big Cabin on March 15, 1927, the son of Basil and Florence (Bell) Dennis. At a young age he had enlisted in the Merchant Marine Corp. serving in WWII. He later enlisted in the Army serving during the Korean War. By the time he was 18 years old he had been around the world twice. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Ruby Allen in Liberal, KS and together they raised four children. Basil loved photography, fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family. He was a member of Newsong Church in Grove. Survivors include his children: Cheryl Mulford of Topeka, KS, Rhonda Bettes of Grove, OK, Karen Orndoff of Larned, KS, and David Dennis of Tyler, TX, as well as one sister Judy Dennis, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Dyer officiating.
