Barbara Shrum

A memorial service for Barbara Jean Shrum, age 74 of Nowata, Oklahoma will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 AM, in the Hillside Christian Church, Nowata. Pastor Van Longbons will officiate. Inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date in White Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the start of the service. Barbara passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015, in the Nowata Jane Phillips Hospital. She was born on April 15, 1941 in Mesa, Arizona. She was the daughter of Roy Andrew Shrum Sr. and Julia Mae (Dixon) Shrum. She was raised in the Bartlesville community where she received her formal education. Barbara was employed at Employability of Bartlesville (previously ARC) and United Linen. She had been a resident of The Hays House in Nowata since 1992. She loved being around people and always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed all the activities provided to her and the other residents of the home. Barbara looked forward to coming home on the weekends. She was a member of the Salvation Army of Bartlesville and Hillside Christian Church in Nowata, she loved going to church. Survivors include her sister, Pauline Holding and one brother, Michael Shrum, and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Shrum Sr. and Julia Shrum, her brothers, Bill Shrum, Roy Shrum Jr., Cliff Shrum, and Homer Shrum, her sisters Opal Evans, Dorothy Bebout, and Ora Cummins and Beverly Duede. Arrangements for Ms. Shrum were entrusted to the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
