Addis Dilbeck

Addis Champion Dilbeck, passed away at the Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, OK, on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the age of 93. Addis was born November 20, 1918 in Fort Cobb, OK, the daughter of the late M. L. and Sylvia Meek. Addis grew up in the Fort Cobb area and graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1936. After High School she taught in a two-room school house for two years before entering OCW (OCLA) in Chickasha, OK. After marriage and two children, she completed her Bachelor's degree in Education at OCW in 1952. She taught most of her 30 years in education at Soldier Creek Elementary in Midwest City, OK Within those 30 years she also taught four years in Ethiopia. She married James Champion on October 26, 1940 in Fort Cobb, OK. After his death, Addis married Marion Dale Dilbeck on July 9, 1973 in Oklahoma City, OK. She enjoyed China Painting and attending UMW and Red Hat events. She was preceded in death by both her parents, both spouses, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her two daughters: Karon Wheat and her husband Chick of Grove, OK, Brenda George and her husband Steve of Frisco, TX; one step-daughter Debbie Kerr and her husband Bruce of Edmond, OK; 4 grandchildren: , Christopher and his wife Jaimee of Gladstone, MO, Craig Wheat and his wife Jennifer of San Diego, CA, Clay George of Frisco, TX and Kelly Kerr of Oklahoma City, OK; six great grandchildren: Megan Guyles and her husband Chris of Kansas City, MO, Alicia Wheat-Jones and her husband Ronald of California, Christen and Sarah Wheat of Gladstone, MO, Kaden and Logan Wheat of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Meek of Midwest City, OK and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Grove, OK on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1PM with Dr. Richard Dayringer, presiding. The burial will be on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 1PM at the Fort Cobb Cemetery in Fort Cobb, OK. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK on Friday, May 18, 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing Addis' Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.
